Recent social media reports claiming that musician Black Sherif has been ordered to pay GH¢229,500 in rent arrears are misleading, according to official court documents.

Contrary to online narratives, the District Court 1 at Adenta has not issued any such order against the artist. The case, filed by Dr. Evelyn Esi Awittor, is still in its preliminary stages, and a hearing has been adjourned. Both parties are scheduled to appear in court on March 3, 2026.

The property in question has been under attachment by the Accra High Court since February 2024 due to separate legal matters unrelated to Black Sherif or the Road Boys Association (RBA), his creative collective.

The figure circulating online—GH¢229,500—represents the amount claimed by Dr. Awittor as alleged outstanding rent as of July 31, 2025. It is a relief being sought in court, not a judgment that has been rendered.

Additionally, the property is not Black Sherif’s personal residence but serves as office space and studios for the RBA. Legal proceedings on the matter will continue, and the case will be properly adjudicated when parties appear in court next March.
