The Black Stars will face Mexico in what will be their third international friendly ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will lock horns with Austria on March 27 at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium before taking on Germany in their second friendly on March 30 in Stuttgart.
The match against Mexico will take place on May 22 at a yet-to-be-announced venue in the North American nation.
Both countries will use the match to further assess their squads for the World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
The aforementioned date falls during a period when the majority of European leagues are still in session, including the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga, which will conclude on May 24.
As a result, the FA said the squad will be “composed of players in the domestic league [in Ghana], some U-23 players” and others in the “European leagues that are watched by [Black Stars coach Otto Addo]”.
The most recent friendly between Ghana and Mexico was in October 2023, which ended in a 2-0 against the Black Stars, who failed to register a shot on target under head coach Chris Hughton.
Mexico will kick off their campaign against South Africa on June 11 before facing either South Korea, Czech Republic, Denmark, Republic of Ireland, or North Macedonia in the other Group A matches.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will take on Panama on June 17 before subsequently battling England and Croatia in Group L.
Ghana is also expected to face “two other unnamed opponents” before the World Cup.
