A 28-year-old final-year nursing student, Gifty Kyere, from the Sunyani Nursing and Midwifery Training College, has tragically passed away in what appears to be suspicious circumstances at her boyfriend’s residence in Jinijini, Bono Region.
Gifty, who had left home a day before her death to collect school fees and other personal items, was found dead in her boyfriend’s room, sending shockwaves through her family.
Her father, Pastor Kyere Jonathan of the Agape Evangelical Church, expressed his disbelief at the unexpected turn of events, as his daughter had not returned home as planned.
Her boyfriend, 23-year-old Edmond Ayomah, is currently being sought by authorities after initially claiming that Gifty had died from an asthma attack and that he could not afford to take her to the hospital.
However, this account has raised suspicions, and investigators have begun to explore other possibilities, including the potential that Gifty had been coerced into terminating a pregnancy, which might have contributed to her sudden demise.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case, and Ayomah has reportedly contacted others to express his intention to turn himself in.
