Cyberbullying has become a serious issue in recent years, with celebrities, influencers, and even ordinary Ghanaians sharing the emotional distress online trolling has caused them.

Sharing her experience, Ghanaian singer Sefa has revealed in an interview on Hitz FM that being labelled “brainless” by netizens deeply affected her and revealed the negative impact of social media trolls on her well-being.

She explained that a user on X once described her as talentless and beautiful without brains, a comment that made her stop visiting the platform altogether.

“One thing that really broke me was when I went on Twitter. That’s why I will never go on Twitter again. I went on Twitter, and somebody said D-Black is wasting his money on Sefa. She’s talentless.

“She’s just brainless. She’s just a beauty with no brains. It became very disturbing at one point. So that really broke me,” she said.

She further shared that despite the abusive comment on X, she made a conscious effort to prove her critics wrong.

According to her, most critics have no idea about the hard work, investment, and effort she puts into her music career.

“I told myself that now I need to prove that I can do it, because obviously, people are going to say, ‘Stop investing in her. What are you gaining from her?’

“And in my mind, I’m like, you don’t know what goes on behind the scenes. You don’t know how much work I put in. You don’t know how much investment goes into this. So to sit on social media and just type something because you see me and think, ‘Oh, she’s just a nice girl on social media,’” she added.
