Vida Adutwumwaa, Public Relations Officer for Burniton Music Group, recently found herself at the center of controversy following her remarks on the growing support for King Paluta to be named the 2025 TGMA Artist of the Year.
Her earlier comments, which suggested the rapper lacked enough influence in the previous year to earn the top award, sparked strong reactions, especially from industry figures like MC Portfolio who accused her of being unnecessarily dismissive.
During an appearance on DJ Slim’s show, Vida referenced Stonebwoy’s performance at the 2024 TGMAs, where the artist secured eight nominations.
Notably, four of those nominations stemmed from tracks off his acclaimed album, “Up and Running,” a detail she emphasized to support her belief that Stonebwoy deserves the top honor this year.
The backlash that followed prompted Vida to clarify her stance in a subsequent interview with blogger Zion Felix. Addressing the criticism, she refuted claims that she had shown disrespect to either Stonebwoy or King Paluta.
She explained that her earlier comments had been misinterpreted and taken out of context.
She further reiterated her support for Stonebwoy’s campaign for Artist of the Year, pointing to his consistent output, the strength of his album, and his impact on the music scene as the basis for her conviction.
According to Vida, her intention was not to downplay King Paluta’s achievements but to highlight why she believes Stonebwoy remains the strongest contender for the coveted title.
The exchange has reignited the debate over who truly deserves the top spot at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards, with fans of both artists continuing to voice strong opinions across social platforms.
