The Ghana Police Service has reported that the alleged heinous act of a Cape-Coast-based self-styled pastor and marriage counsellor came to light after the victim confided in her headmistress.
An official complaint was immediately filed with the DOVVSU in Cape Coast, and the case was referred to Circuit Court, leading to the arrest of Reverend Dr Ebenezer Conduah, who heads the Mahanaim Christian Centre and markets himself on Facebook as an International Marriage Counsellor and trained Gynaecologist.
Her disclosure came after suffering the abuse extensively for four years, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lydia Yaako Donkor, reported at a presser on March 9, 2026.
“In August 2021, the suspect welcomed the survivor, then a 13-year-old SHS student, into his home under the guise of providing spiritual counselling and behavioural correction. From that point, the suspect repeatedly subjected the survivor to sexual abuse over an extended period.
“He also recorded the abuse on his mobile phone. In some instances, he forces the survivor to hold back materials displaying an adult pornographic website and to state on camera that she was accessible on that platform with apparent intent to distribute such content online.”
Items retrieved from his home included one HP laptop, three external hard drives, five pen drives, one Android mobile phone, tablet, two electronic vibrators with accessories, assorted contraceptives, unused lubricants, a used pregnancy test kit and two ladies’ panties.
These items are undergoing forensic analysis.
Meanwhile, forensic investigators with the help of the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) reportedly uncovered evidence of the production of child sexual abuse materials as well as three private pornographic websites accounts stored on the suspect’s devices.
On his first arrest and arraignment at the Cape Coast Circuit Court, the suspect was charged with two counts of defilement of a female child and child pornography.
He was rearrested on March 6 and put before a Circuit court on March 8 on a new charge of possessing an indecent video or photograph of a child.
He has since been remanded into prison custody to reappear on March 27.
