The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, has revealed that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has confiscated 15 of his luxury vehicles.

According to him, the cars, which include high-end brands such as a Bentley, a Rolls-Royce, and a Toyota Land Cruiser, were acquired through legitimate means from a certified dealer who had fulfilled all import and registration requirements.
Wontumi expressed frustration over the development, insisting that the seizures had no legal justification.

The move comes amid heightened scrutiny of the NPP regional chairman, who has faced a series of investigations by EOCO. Earlier in May, he was detained by the agency before later being released.
Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Justice Srem Sai, has since confirmed that Wontumi is being investigated for serious offences, including fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

He further disclosed that the case has an international dimension, with EOCO working in partnership with foreign law enforcement to probe an alleged global organised crime syndicate linked to the politician.
