Tensions ran high at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra as parents and students gathered in droves to address issues with the 2025 Senior High School (SHS) placement results.
The scene was marked by long queues, anxious faces, and a palpable sense of frustration. According to reports, 107,509 candidates—roughly 18.2% of those who qualified—were not automatically placed into any of their preferred schools.
The Ministry of Education, through the Ghana Education Service, released the placement results on September 17, 2025, with students expected to report to their schools on October 18. While many students were successfully assigned to schools, others found themselves without placements or in programs they did not select.
At the GNAT Hall, serving as a national resolution centre, parents voiced their concerns. Daniel Lartey, a parent, expressed disappointment, saying he hoped for a day school closer to home for his son.
Out of the 603,328 candidates who sat for the 2025 BECE, 590,309 qualified for placement. The Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) successfully placed 483,800 students, representing 82% of the qualified candidates.
Despite government assurances of smooth placement, large crowds continue to converge at GNAT Hall seeking solutions to placement challenges.
