Chelsea will have goalkeeper Robert Sanchez available for selection this Saturday when they host Brighton at Stamford Bridge, following his one-match suspension. The 27-year-old was sent off just five minutes into last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United after bringing down Bryan Mbeumo in a critical moment.

During Sanchez’s absence, back-up goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen took his place, including in Chelsea’s 2-1 Carabao Cup third-round victory over Lincoln City, as loanee Gabriel Slonina remained on the bench. A straight red card for denying a goal-scoring opportunity carries a single-match ban, meaning Sanchez is now eligible to return. If the dismissal had been for violent conduct, he would have faced a three-game suspension.

Chelsea, seeking to bounce back from inconsistent form, recently recorded a Carabao Cup win over Lincoln after a draw at Brentford, a defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and the United loss. At home, the Blues have remained unbeaten so far, with a draw against Crystal Palace and a win over Fulham. Brighton, in contrast, have lost both of their away league matches against Everton and Bournemouth.

Team updates reveal that Chelsea’s Facundo Buonanotte, on loan from Brighton, will not feature due to Premier League rules preventing loanees from facing their parent club. Cole Palmer may be sidelined following a first-half injury against United, while Levi Colwill and Liam Delap remain long-term absentees. Romeo Lavia and Benoit Badiashile trained last week in preparation for upcoming fixtures.

Brighton could see Maxim De Cuyper return from a knee injury, but Jack Hinshelwood and Solly March are out until the end of the year, and Adam Webster will be sidelined for the season with a knee ligament issue.
