CID launches renewed investigations into high-profile cold cases

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has announced an intensified effort to investigate several high-profile cases of murder, disappearance, and violent death, following a press briefing held on Monday, March 9, by the Director General, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor.

During the conference, COP Donkor reaffirmed the police’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with relevant state agencies to protect national assets and ensure that perpetrators of serious crimes are brought to justice.

The Cold Case Unit has been tasked with reopening previously reported high-profile cases that have garnered significant public attention.

Investigations are now being carried out with renewed resources, updated intelligence, and enhanced forensic support.

The key cases currently under review include:

1. Paulina Lamisi – A women’s organiser for the NDC in Tema West, was reported missing on June 12, 2024. Despite initial investigations, her whereabouts remain unknown. The Cold Case Unit has assumed responsibility for the re-investigation and is appealing to the public for any information that may assist in locating her or clarifying the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.
2. Stella Adjoa Potakedonko – Found murdered in her room in Tema Gulf City on February 11, 2024, the circumstances surrounding Ms Potakedonko’s death and the identity of her assailants remain unresolved. Investigators are conducting a comprehensive review of all evidence and witness accounts to bring the matter to a conclusive legal resolution.
3. Anthony Kudjo Tettey Ehiamah – An employee of Dizengoff Ghana, Mr Ehiamah was murdered at Oyarifa on September 8, 2024. Previously slow-moving, the investigation has been reactivated by the Cold Case Unit with the aim of identifying and prosecuting those responsible.
4. Francis Yaw Frimpong, alias Nana Pooley – A devoted supporter of Asante Kotoko Football Club, Mr Frimpong was fatally stabbed during a match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC. The circumstances of his death followed a heated altercation with an unidentified individual. Investigators are actively pursuing credible leads that may lead to arrests.

COP Donkor confirmed that the Cold Case Unit is reviewing several other unresolved cases not listed during the press briefing, reaffirming the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to thorough, diligent, and uncompromising investigations into violent crimes.
