What began as a seemingly petty disagreement over a cigarette ended in a double tragedy at a location in Nkawkaw notorious for drug activity. The spot, commonly known as Bobo Shanti, has long been regarded by locals as a haven for marijuana users—and now, it’s the scene of two sudden deaths.
A man believed to be in his thirties, identified as Baba Salau, was stabbed during a confrontation at the venue. Witnesses say the altercation quickly escalated, and a worker from a nearby pub allegedly pulled a knife during the heated moment. Salau succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive.
In a tragic twist, news of the killing reached a local chinchinga vendor who had lost his son to a stabbing incident at the same location two years ago. Upon hearing what had happened, the devastated man collapsed and died almost instantly. Residents believe the emotional trauma was too much for him to bear.
Outraged by the events, some residents took matters into their own hands. Several parts of the pub were vandalized, with angry voices demanding that the establishment be shut down. Locals described the area as a magnet for trouble, saying it has become unsafe and a hotspot for criminal activity.
Police have since retrieved Salau’s body and deposited it at the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, the suspect behind the stabbing is still at large, and a manhunt is ongoing. Authorities have yet to make an official comment on the death of the second man.
