The Head of the Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, has engaged the Ministry of Health with aim of improving efficiency, strengthening accountability, and aligning the work of civil servants with government priorities.

During the engagement, the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, raised concerns about inefficiencies in the system, stressing that delays in implementation continue to hinder national progress.

He called for urgency, accountability, and initiative among public officers, urging them to move away from complacency and weak enforcement of rules.

“Lamentation is not a solution,” the Minister said. “Civil servants must rise and play their critical role in national development.”

He emphasised the need for a cultural shift within the public sector to ensure that government programs deliver real impact.

Dr. Lawrence A. Kannae, Chairman of the Civil Service Council, said the Council is committed to supporting the Ministry of Health to improve efficiency and service delivery.

He noted that stronger collaboration between the Civil Service and government institutions is key to tackling implementation challenges and ensuring public sector reforms succeed.

As part of the visit, the Council also held a meeting with management of the Ministry of Health to discuss operational issues and improve coordination.

The meeting is one of several engagements by the Civil Service Council to deepen ties with ministries and address bottlenecks affecting public service delivery.
