Veteran entertainment analyst Yaw Boadu-Ayeboahfoh has raised doubts over reports suggesting that musicians who performed at Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s 40th birthday celebration were paid exorbitant sums.
He has dismissed circulating figures as exaggerated, stating that such payments do not align with typical industry rates for private events.
Following the high-profile event, social media reports claimed that international artists such as Davido and Diamond Platnumz were each paid around $600,000, while Ghanaian acts like Sarkodie and Stonebwoy allegedly received approximately $250,000.
These claims fueled speculation over the scale of spending at the lavish party.
However, Boadu-Ayeboahfoh, speaking on DGN’s Entertainment Guide, argued that the figures being discussed are unrealistic.
He emphasized that Richard Quaye, as a businessman, would not recklessly spend such amounts merely for a birthday celebration.
Instead, he suggested that the musicians likely had their expenses covered and may have received a smaller honorarium rather than a full commercial performance fee.
He further pointed out that the event was more than just a musical showcase—it was an opportunity for networking among high-profile guests.
According to him, the artists who attended were more interested in strengthening relationships with the affluent businessman rather than demanding their standard fees for performances.
Despite the widespread speculation, neither Richard Quaye nor the artists involved have publicly commented on the exact payments made.
Until official figures are disclosed, the true nature of the financial arrangements surrounding the event remains unclear.
