A peaceful afternoon in Buduburam turned into a nightmare after a massive tree collapsed on three people, including a 9-year-old girl and a pregnant woman, leaving them critically injured.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, as the victims sought shelter under a large Neem tree to escape the scorching sun. Eyewitnesses reported that strong winds swept through the area moments before the tree came crashing down without warning, trapping the unsuspecting individuals underneath.
Emergency responders and bystanders rushed the victims to the St. Gregory Catholic Hospital, where medical staff confirmed all three were in extremely critical condition. The medical team is currently working tirelessly to stabilize them.
Local residents, shaken by the unexpected event, expressed concern that the aged tree had long shown signs of weakness and should have been removed. Many blamed both the tree’s deteriorating condition and the unusual winds for the disaster.
Witnesses described a terrifying scene, saying the victims had no idea they were in danger. “They were only trying to avoid the sun,” one resident said. “The fall happened so fast, none of them had a chance to escape.”
