Comedians are richer than musicians – Shank Comics sparks debate

Nigerian skit maker and streamer Shank Comics has sparked online conversation after claiming that comedians earn more than musicians.

 Speaking during a recent livestream, he said many people assume music stars are wealthier because they tend to show off their luxurious lifestyles, unlike most comedians who keep a lower profile.

 Shank Comics argued that top Nigerian comedians such as Bovi and Basketmouth are actually richer than leading Afrobeats stars like Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy. According to him, the difference lies in how they manage and display their wealth.

 He explained that comedians are more focused on long-term financial security, often choosing to invest their earnings rather than spend heavily on luxury items such as exotic cars.

 “I think there is more money in comedy than music,” he said. “Bovi and Basketmouth are far richer, but they prefer to invest instead of buying expensive cars.”

 He added that many comedians can afford the same lavish lifestyle seen among musicians but choose to live more modestly and plan for the future.
