Professor Kwasi Henry Prempeh has described the review of the 1992 Constitution as a smooth and thorough process, crediting the outcome to the diligence and cohesion of the Constitution Review Committee.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on The Pulse on Monday, following the submission of the Committee’s report to the President, Professor Prempeh said the team worked meticulously from the outset, guided by a clear mandate and a commitment to inclusivity.
He noted that members of the Committee collaborated closely throughout the process, ensuring that diverse perspectives were carefully examined and reflected in their work.
“I think the process unfolded quite well. What we had told ourselves at our first meeting was that we would develop what we call guiding principles. Our terms of reference were really quite open, give us actionable recommendations that will move our democracy forward,” this he said the committee heeded to and it made the work smooth for them.
According to him, the Committee’s engagement with individuals and groups across the country was conducted systematically, allowing Ghanaians from varied backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to the review.
