The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has suspended the salaries of 2,563 public servants who failed to take part in a nationwide headcount exercise conducted in 2025.

In a press release dated January 30, 2026, the CAGD confirmed that salaries for government employees on the national payroll had been paid for January but noted that payments to the affected personnel had been halted on the recommendation of the Auditor-General.

According to the statement, the suspended salaries pertain to workers who did not report for the headcount exercise conducted by the Ghana Audit Service across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
