he Accra High Court has granted leave to parties in a suit between the Vehicle Embossment Manufacturers Association of Ghana (VEMAG) and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) to settle their dispute out of court.

The decision followed notification by lawyers for Original Manufacturing and Embossment Company Ltd that discussions were underway to resolve the matter amicably.

VEMAG has filed a suit seeking to restrain the DVLA from rolling out a new vehicle number plate registration system.

When the case was called on Friday, February 13, counsel for Original Manufacturing and Embossment Company Limited, led by Prof. Kwame Gyan, informed the court that the second defendant had initiated settlement talks with the plaintiffs.

“I have a very long-standing excellent relationship with Martin Kpebu. We’ve had conference at the bar and outside the courtroom. We propose that my Lord is amenable to one adjournment to continue the conversation,” Prof Gyan was quoted to have said in a 3news.com report on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Lead counsel for VEMAG, Martin Kpebu, confirmed the ongoing discussions and appealed to the court to adjourn proceedings to allow the parties to pursue an amicable resolution.

Lawyers for the DVLA also indicated that they were not opposed to the proposal and expressed readiness to support efforts aimed at settling the matter out of court.

Presiding judge, Justice Isaac Addo, subsequently adjourned the case and directed the parties to file the terms of settlement before the next hearing date.

“Since all the lawyers in this suit have expressed a desire to resolve the matter. The court will grant an adjournment. In the event that the parties are able to settle the suit out of court, the terms of settlement should be filed before the next court date,” the judge ruled.

The case has been adjourned to February 27.
