Ghanaian music star Black Sherif has emerged victorious in a legal battle with his former management, Charvis Wayne’s Consult, after the High Court (Commercial Division) dismissed most of the claims brought against him.
The judgment, delivered on Thursday, January 16, 2026, by Her Ladyship Justice Afia Adu-Amankwa, brings to an end the long-running dispute between the internationally acclaimed artiste, born Shadrach Owusu Agyei, and his former manager, Mohammed Ismail Sherif.
In her ruling, the judge confirmed that although a management agreement did exist between the two parties, the plaintiff failed to provide sufficient evidence to support key allegations, including claims of withheld revenue, unaccounted earnings and financial losses allegedly suffered as a result of the agreement.
The court held that the former management did not render full accounts as required under the contract and also failed to prove that it continued to perform its contractual obligations after the agreement was terminated.
Claims relating to construction works and other expenses said to have been undertaken on behalf of Black Sherif were also rejected due to lack of proof.
Additionally, the court found that the plaintiff did not take reasonable steps to mitigate any losses arising from the termination of the agreement.
However, the court ruled that Black Sherif’s engagement with a third party while the management agreement was still in force amounted to a technical breach of contract. Despite this, Justice Adu-Amankwa stressed that no substantial loss was proven. As a result, the court awarded nominal damages of GH¢50,000, describing the breach as limited in nature.
All other reliefs sought by the plaintiff were dismissed. The court also awarded costs of GH¢15,000, restricted to reasonable legal and related expenses.
The judgment effectively closes the chapter on the dispute, with the court making it clear that no significant liability arose against Black Sherif.
Following the ruling, the award-winning artiste is said to be fully focused on his music career and ongoing international engagements
