The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Michael Kpakpo Allotey, stated that these convictions are part of the city’s ongoing crackdown on indiscriminate waste disposal. He stressed that adherence to sanitation by-laws is crucial to protecting public health and preserving a clean environment.
Allotey announced that the AMA will introduce a 24-hour cleaning program to tackle sanitation challenges across Accra. He warned that anyone caught littering or dumping refuse illegally will face prosecution under the law. Residents, traders, and visitors are urged to use designated waste bins, adhere to authorised collection services, participate in community clean-up initiatives, and promptly report offenders to AMA authorities.
