Curfew hours reviewed for Nalerigu Township and environs

The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has reviewed the curfew hours for Nalerigu Township and its environs in the North East Region.

Under the revised directive, the curfew will now run from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., effective Monday, January 5, 2026.

In a statement issued by the Ministry, government urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them. The statement further called on all stakeholders to adopt non-violent means in channeling their energies towards ensuring lasting peace in the area.

 A total ban remains in force on the carrying of arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects or weapons within Nalerigu Township and its environs. The Ministry cautioned that any person found in possession of arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The directive was signed by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP).

Authorities say the measures are aimed at maintaining law and order and restoring calm in the affected areas.
