The curfew for Nalerigu in the North East Region will now be enforced from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, a change announced by the government effective Monday, January 5, 2026.

A statement by the Ministry of Interior said the decision followed advice by the National Security Council.

Meanwhile, it reaffirmed the total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects/ weapons.

It vowed to arrest and prosecute any person found with a weapon.

In addition, the Ministry urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them, as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace in the area.
