The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed that the government Cyber Security Authority has arrested some individuals operating in Momo fraud, among others.

In a post shared on X on January 26, 2026, Sam George noted that the operation carried out over the weekend by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Command arrested three Nigerians around Sakumono who were involved in SIMbox operations and a landlord.

“This past weekend, the CSAGhana, in collaboration with the Greater Accra Regional Command and the CID of the Ghana Police Service, struck a double blow against cybercriminals.

“In the first operation across three locations around Sakumono, a sophisticated SIMbox operation was dismantled. Three Nigerian nationals, along with a Ghanaian landlord, were arrested for their role in the operations,” he said.

The minister additionally shared how three Ghanaians were also arrested during their second operation conducted in the Volta Region.

According to him, the suspects were involved in sextortion, Momo fraud and impersonation.

He additionally noted that the suspects have been proceeded for court and are currently awaiting trials.

“In a second operation in Vakpo in the Volta Region, a 3-member syndicate of Ghanaians engaged in impersonation, sextortion and MoMo-related fraud was busted.

“The syndicate had chosen to impersonate the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, my good self, and defraud members of the public. They have all been processed for Court and will be made to face the full rigours of the law,” he added.
