Evangelist Papa Shee, a close friend of Daddy Lumba, has hinted that plans for a proposed “Celebration of Life” could take a different turn, with attention potentially shifting toward the musician’s widow, Akosua Serwaa Fosu.
He made the remarks after court proceedings at the Accra High Court on March 25, 2026, where a legal challenge to the planned event led to further uncertainty over its organisation.
The case, which seeks to stop the Celebration of Life ceremony scheduled for March 28, 2026, has been adjourned to April 23, 2026. The postponement has left the fate of the event unclear, raising doubts about whether it will proceed as originally intended.
Responding to questions on whether the March 28 programme would still go ahead despite the court’s decision, Papa Shee indicated that the family may redirect their focus toward honouring Akosua Serwaa Fosu instead. He explained that celebrations, in his view, are meant for the living.
The controversy comes in the wake of Daddy Lumba’s funeral held on December 13, 2025. After the burial, some members of the immediate family, including his sister Ernestina Fosu and Papa Shee, publicly announced plans for an additional memorial event in his honour.
However, the proposal faced resistance from the family head, Kofi Owusu, who proceeded to file an injunction at the Accra High Court seeking to halt the planned ceremony.
