Former Member of Parliament for Adenta constituency, Kojo Adu Asare, has appealed to the family of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba to focus on preserving and promoting his legacy rather than engaging in what he described as needless litigation.

According to him, the immense contribution Daddy Lumba made to Ghana’s music industry deserves to be properly documented and celebrated for future generations.

“I pray that we protect Daddy Lumba’s legacy so that future generations will be able to know about him. If possible, we should create a museum for him just like the Jamaicans did for Bob Marley to tell his story,” he said.

Kojo Adu Asare further suggested that books should be written and published to highlight the positive impact and achievements of the late musician.

“Let us write and publish books about the good things he did. The family should be interested in that part and stop the needless litigation,” he added.

Touching on the need for unity within the family, the former MP stressed that Daddy Lumba’s death should serve as a unifying factor rather than a source of division.

“Daddy Lumba’s death should bring his family together. They should try their best to resolve every issue between themselves, whatever it will cost them,” he stated.

He emphasised the importance of humility and forgiveness in resolving disputes, noting that peace is essential for safeguarding the late musician’s legacy.

“If it requires someone to say sorry to someone, he should say it for peace to reign. This will help to protect and promote the good legacy Lumba left behind,” Kojo Adu Asare said.

The former MP made these remarks in a video posted online by Oman Ghana TV and sighted by Oyerepa Online, where he shared his thoughts on how the family can best honour the memory and achievements of the late highlife icon.

There was intense litigation surrounding his funeral of legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba (Charles Kwadwo Fosu), mainly involving members of his maternal family, who sought control over the funeral arrangements, and the immediate family and planning committee. This legal battle led to an injunction that initially halted the scheduled December 13, 2025, funeral.

However, the Accra High Court later lifted the injunction after the maternal family failed to meet a GH¢2 million cost payment deadline, thereby clearing the way for the funeral to proceed as planned on December 13, 2025. Despite this development, disagreements over customary rights and the management of funeral-related funds persisted.
