Faustina Fosu, the younger sister of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, has debunked claims circulating on social media that the body lying in the coffin was not her brother’s.
Speaking to the media on December 14, 2025, she described the allegations as false and misleading, emphasising that she personally saw the late musician and confirmed his identity.
“He’s the one, and he was looking good when I saw him. People were alleging it was a toy in the coffin, but it’s not true,” she stated.
Faustina explained that certain funeral decisions were guided by Daddy Lumba’s own wishes before his passing. According to her, the celebrated musician had instructed that his face should not be revealed and that he did not want a public laying-in-state.
“Daddy Lumba said it before he died that we shouldn’t reveal his face, and he also didn’t want us to lay him in public,” she disclosed.
She added that the family eventually allowed a public laying-in-state after false narratives began spreading online. Even then, his face remained covered to honour his final request. “People know how to fabricate lies.
That’s why we decided to lay him in public, but we covered his face just to honour his wish,” she explained.
Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated highlife musicians, passed away on July 26, 2025, sparking an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and industry figures both locally and internationally.
