The Oti Regional Police Command has seized 4,000 parcels of suspected narcotics concealed in a trailer at Dambai after an intelligence-led operation.

A news release issued by the command on February 10, 2026 said officers stopped and searched a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 after receiving a tip-off.

The vehicle initially appeared empty, but a detailed search revealed that the trailer had been altered with hidden compartments sealed with six metal plates.

Police said the compartments were opened in the presence of the suspect, Mr Amidu Jubril, aged 40.

A search of the spaces led to the discovery of 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be narcotics. The parcels were wrapped in yellow masking tape and concealed within the trailer.

According to the police, the vehicle has been impounded and the exhibits retained for evidence. Mr Jubril has been detained and is assisting investigators while further inquiries continue.

The seizure forms part of ongoing action by security agencies to address narcotics trafficking along major transit routes in the country.
