Rosebank International University College (RIUC), Accra, has officially inaugurated its Governing Council, reinforcing its commitment to strong institutional governance, strategic oversight, and the delivery of globally competitive higher education in Ghana.

The Governing Council, the highest decision-making and oversight body of the institution, is mandated to provide direction, ensure financial accountability, and uphold the highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance.

Its inauguration marks a significant step in strengthening RIUC’s institutional framework as it positions itself for sustained growth within Ghana’s evolving higher education landscape.

Council members

The Council, chaired by Prof. Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, has membership, including Prof. Linda Meyer (President), Dr Clement Apaak, Emmanuel Duku, James Yalley Kwofie and Dr George K. Asamoah (Vice-President).

The rest are Dr Ebo Afful (Executive Dean-Member), Rhamees Nordien (CFO), Sithembiso Ntuli (Advocate), Dr Dorothy Asare (Registrar) and Godwin Kebbi (SRC).

Platform for alignment

The gathering created a platform for alignment and shared purpose, with discussions highlighting the importance of strong stewardship in driving institutional excellence.

A defining moment of the ceremony was the administration of the oath of office and secrecy, with Council members pledging their commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility, underscoring the seriousness of their mandate in safeguarding the institution’s long-term interests.

Acceptance remarks

In his acceptance remarks, Prof. Kwansah-Aidoo emphasised the Council’s resolve to uphold rigorous standards while supporting management in delivering on the university’s vision.

“We recognise that strong governance is the foundation of any credible and forward-looking university.

This Council is fully committed to ensuring that RIUC not only complies with all regulatory and fiduciary obligations but also sets a benchmark for institutional excellence in Ghana’s private higher education space.

“Beyond compliance, our focus is on enabling sustainable growth, strengthening academic quality, and positioning RIUC as a leading institution that produces graduates who are relevant, innovative and globally competitive,” he stated.

Higher education sector

The inauguration comes at a time when Ghana’s higher education sector is experiencing increased demand for quality, accountability and industry alignment.

RIUC’s strengthened governance structure places it in a strong position to respond to these expectations while expanding its academic footprint and contributing to national development.

With a clear mandate and renewed strategic focus, the Governing Council is expected to play a central role in guiding RIUC’s next phase of growth, driving resilience, enhancing stakeholder confidence, and ensuring the university continues to deliver on its promise of quality.
