Ghana’s music scene just got a boost from an unlikely source – Indonesia’s Honorary Consul to Ghana, Paskal A.B. Rois, also known as Togbe Afrika in showbiz circles.

This dual identity has taken to his craft, composing a stirring patriotic song, GO GO GO BLACKSTARS, to support Ghana’s national football team ahead of the World Cup in June.

With years of experience in the music industry, Togbe Afrika is no stranger to the stage.

After taking a 15-year break from music to focus on education and his business, Togbe Afrika thinks it’s a perfect time to return to music and show his support for the national team.

GO GO GO BLACKSTARS aims to restore Ghanaians’ faith in the Black Stars, motivate players, unite the nation and inspire young fans.

Plus, it showcases Ghana’s tourist attractions and natural resources, promoting tourism and investment.

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, February 23, Togbe Afrika said his diplomatic background shaped the song’s composition.

He mentioned that as Honorary Consul, he promotes Ghana and Indonesia, so he waded in global vibes and avoided naming specific players or politicians, making it timeless.

“I didn’t want to limit it to just this period, so I avoided mentioning specific players or politicians, making the song timeless and relevant across generations,” he said.

He recently presented a copy of the song to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, who praised it as “beautiful and impactful”.

He disclosed that the song will be forwarded to the technical committee selecting official World Cup songs.

Togbe Afrika’s music journey began in 1999, with three albums under his belt. He took a break to focus on business and education, establishing Rig Oil International Services (ROIS) LTD, an upstream oil and gas company.

His albums are Danye Sidzima (hiplife), Dela Yesu (Gospel) and Kpedenutor (highlife).

“With GO GO GO BLACKSTARS”, I want to show the world that creativity and diplomacy make a winning combo. Music is my first love and still identifies me and through this song, I want to unite Ghanaians and promote our country’s beauty globally,” he added.
