The actress, who has lost about 52 kilogrammes (kg) over the past six and a half years, says her new physique is the result of consistent exercise, patience and a strong commitment to healthy living.

Speaking in an interview with the Graphic Showbiz on Monday, March 9, Belinda explained that her fitness journey began on July 19, 2019, and has been a gradual but deeply rewarding process.

“I did not undergo any surgery. My weight loss journey was achieved through discipline, lifestyle changes and consistent exercise,” she said.

At her heaviest, Belinda weighed around 133kg. Today, she weighs about 81kg, a transformation she says has significantly improved her health and boosted her confidence.

Although she began working on her weight in 2019, Dzatah said the results only became visibly noticeable in 2021, when she intensified her commitment to a regular fitness routine and healthier habits.

For the actress, the journey was never just about appearance but about improving her overall well-being.

“My goal was not just about losing weight but improving my Body Mass Index and overall health. I wanted to ensure that my body was in a healthier range so I could live a more balanced and active life,” she explained.

While acknowledging that the entertainment industry often emphasises appearance, she believes that talent and authenticity ultimately matter more.

“Showbiz is a visual industry, so appearance can sometimes play a role. However, I strongly believe that talent, confidence and authenticity matter even more,” she said.

Belinda began her acting career in 2012 and had since appeared in several productions, including 5 Brides, Family Album, If You Were Mine, Forget You, Greetings from Abroad, Once Upon a Family, Royal Diadem, Till Mums Do Us Part, Hotel St James, Home Sweet Home and Elmina.

Currently, she is studying filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in the United States, where she hopes to deepen her storytelling skills and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s film industry.

Beyond acting, Belinda is also an entrepreneur. She is the founder of Bel’s African Spices LLC, a food production and catering company based in New Jersey, USA.

She also runs a fitness clothing brand, Fit by Dabs, which operates on an order basis and aims to promote confidence and healthy living.

Drawing from her personal experience, she now advocates healthy living, body awareness and self-love, particularly among young women.

“I want to inspire people to focus on their health rather than unrealistic beauty standards. Everyone’s body and journey are different,” she said.

She added that her transformation has not only boosted her confidence but also increased her energy both on and off screen.

“It has shown me that with discipline, patience and determination, personal transformation is possible.”
