DJ Slim claims Dr. Kwaku Oteng sabotaged his event with last-minute funding cut

DJ Slim, an acclaimed disc jockey, has levelled accusations against businessman Dr Kwaku Oteng, claiming that the latter reneged on a substantial promise made to him.

During an appearance on GhPage monitored by News & Vibes, DJ Slim revealed that Dr Kwaku Oteng had pledged to provide GHS 100,000 to back his annual entertainment event which draws significant attention and participation each year.

According to DJ Slim, the promise had come at a time when he was working diligently to organise one of his most ambitious shows yet, and the assurance of such financial backing had been crucial in his planning and expectations for the event.

However, things took a turn for the worse when, on the day of the event, Dr Kwaku Oteng reportedly handed over a much smaller sum of GHS 5,000.

DJ Slim recounted his surprise and disappointment, particularly given the stark difference between what was promised and what was delivered.

Dr Oteng allegedly claimed that, upon reflection, he did not fully understand the concept of the event and thus didn’t see the necessity of contributing the larger amount initially agreed upon.

DJ Slim said that this excuse left him baffled, especially since the businessman had shown interest and support earlier in the planning stages.

The disc jockey expressed that the GHS 5,000 was not only a fraction of the promised amount but was also inadequate to cover critical aspects of the event, which relied heavily on the promised financial and logistical support.

Beyond the monetary shortfall, DJ Slim further accused Dr Oteng of sabotaging his event by instructing his staff not to provide the sound equipment that had initially been pledged.

The businessman’s refusal to lend the speakers at the last minute reportedly put additional strain on the event’s preparations.

DJ Slim went on to explain that Dr Oteng’s actions placed him in a difficult position as he had to scramble for alternatives to ensure the event proceeded as planned.

He remarked that while he was grateful for any form of support, the last-minute changes created unnecessary stress and compromised the quality of the show.

Reflecting on the situation, DJ Slim shared that he had always regarded Dr Oteng as a mentor and a trusted figure in the business world, which made the outcome even more disappointing.

The revelation has sparked widespread discussion within entertainment and business circles, with some questioning the integrity of public figures who make grand promises but fail to follow through.

Many have sympathised with DJ Slim, noting how damaging it can be for organisers when influential individuals retract their commitments at the eleventh hour, especially when such events are months in the making.

While DJ Slim has yet to state whether he will seek any formal resolution regarding the unfulfilled promise, the incident has undoubtedly left a mark on his relationship with the businessman and raised concerns about trustworthiness and accountability in the entertainment industry.
