A bitter exchange has erupted between media personalities Kwame Djokoto and Captain Smart, with Djokoto accusing the popular journalist of personal attacks and having a criminal past.
The conflict began after Djokoto, a staunch supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was informed of negative remarks made about him by Captain Smart on television.
Djokoto expressed his frustration after receiving calls from family and friends who shared details of Captain Smart’s comments, which included claims that Djokoto’s career was “dead.”
In response, Djokoto emphasized his preference for respectful discourse and factual discussions, stating he had no interest in engaging with Smart directly. He also made it clear that he values professionalism over insults.
The controversy deepened when Djokoto accused Captain Smart of having a criminal history, alleging that during his time at Fox FM in Kumasi, there were police reports documenting criminal cases against him.
Djokoto challenged Smart, asking whether he had ever faced such allegations. Djokoto also expressed disbelief that Media General, a prominent media company, would hire someone with such a background, questioning their vetting processes.
In addition to the personal accusations, Djokoto also used the opportunity to advocate for the NDC, claiming that the party is better for Ghana’s development than the New Patriotic Party (NPP), further fueling the political undertones of the dispute.
The media feud has stirred up tensions within Ghana’s media landscape, bringing questions of accountability and integrity to the forefront.
As the controversy unfolds, many are waiting to see how Captain Smart will respond to the accusations, and whether this public clash will further escalate.
