Popular Ghanaian rapper and outgoing University of Ghana SRC President, Guru, believes his leadership journey at Legon has equipped him with the skills needed to take on national leadership responsibilities in the future.

In an interview on Okay FM, he explained that people must demonstrate competence through education and relevant exposure before stepping into major roles. He argued that his time as a student leader has allowed him to build that foundation.

Guru noted that many of Ghana’s political figures — including presidents, ministers, and MPs — first developed their leadership abilities through student activism. He stressed that managing the affairs of a student body as large and diverse as that of the University of Ghana is in itself a major test of one’s governance capabilities.

He shared that heading the country’s premier university’s SRC has taught him patience, discipline, teamwork, and how to navigate political processes — all qualities he believes are essential for governing a nation.

With confidence in his experiences and academic background in political science and information studies, Guru hinted that stepping up to serve Ghana at a higher level would not be a challenge for him.

According to him, his role at the university has prepared him to take on any leadership position in Ghana “without struggle.”
