Dr Nana Ayew Afriye, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Health Committee and MP for Effiduase-Asokore, has officially denied any involvement in the Lightwave Health Information Management System (LHIMS) deal, contrary to recent media reports. The allegations suggested that Dr Afriye and his wife, Maame Yaa Antwi, were connected to the LHIMS contract signed under the previous government.
Dr Afriye has clarified that he has no association with the management system or the contract. The reports, he says, are misleading and appear to be an attempt to attract attention through the use of his name.
The LHIMS, introduced by the Ghana Health Service in 2018, is a digital platform designed for the storage and management of patient health records. The system supports hospital administrators, healthcare providers, and clinicians by providing accurate and timely data to improve decision-making and patient care.
Dr Afriye’s statement underscores his position that the media claims are unfounded, urging the public to disregard the false information circulating online.
