Driver Bolts With GHS100k Left in Car by Boss—Here’s How It Ended

Man Arrested After Fuel Station Robbery and Murder—Phone of Victim Found in His Possession

A 30-year-old driver, Ebenezer Nii Adjei, will spend the next year behind bars after admitting to stealing GHS100,000 from his employer and using it to finance a lavish lifestyle.

The Accra Circuit Court handed down the 12-month prison sentence after Adjei pleaded guilty to the crime. According to court records, he used the stolen money to purchase a vehicle and a motorbike, and to rent and furnish an apartment.

The funds belonged to his employer, Alidu Arimiyaw, an event organiser based in Nungua. On May 21, 2025, the two were working together when Arimiyaw briefly stepped out of the vehicle to conduct a mobile money transaction, leaving a bag containing the GHS100,000 inside the car. The money was intended for an upcoming event.

Instead of waiting, Adjei took off with the car and disappeared with the cash. He later abandoned the vehicle and went into hiding.

A police investigation led to his arrest. During questioning, he admitted to the theft and detailed how the money was spent. Authorities were able to recover both the car and the motorbike, which are now being kept as evidence.
