The Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana and other unions have commended the Accra Mayor, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, for clearing hawkers off Kinbu-Tudu Street, a move that has significantly eased traffic congestion in the area.

The praise follows a meeting between the union and the mayor, during which drivers highlighted the challenges they faced with hawkers occupying the streets.

Nii Ashie, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, told Adom News that the mayor had fulfilled his promise to clear the roads, bringing relief to drivers.

“The road was blocked during and after Christmas, but the mayor came through,” he said.

Paa Willie, President of the Concerned Drivers Association, also lauded the efforts of Mayor Allotey and President John Mahama, noting that the streets are now clear and drivers are no longer harassed by police officers.

“The Accra Mayor’s efforts have made a huge impact, and we appreciate his leadership,” he stated.

He added that major traffic jams during the Christmas season on Kinbu-Tudu Street and at Makola had made commuting extremely difficult, but the situation has improved remarkably.
