The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has inaugurated a new ultra-modern centre at Teshie-Nungua in Accra to improve access to driver and vehicle services along the coastal corridor.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, described Teshie-Nungua as one of Accra’s most densely populated communities, with significant commercial activity.
He noted that residents have long faced challenges accessing DVLA services, adding that the new centre will ease this burden by bringing services closer to the people and improving overall service delivery.
Mr Kotey said the initiative supports the government’s “reset agenda” to rebuild public trust and enhance service delivery.
“This commissioning is firmly aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s reset agenda, a commitment to restore public trust in government institutions and rebuild the systems that ordinary citizens depend on,” he said.
The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku, Benjamin Ayiku Nartey, lauded the DVLA for opening the ultra-modern Teshie-Nungua service centre, describing it as a major boost for the constituency.
He urged staff to uphold professionalism to ensure residents benefit fully from the services.
“I encourage the management and staff of this centre to provide excellent and professional services to the public, so that the people of Teshie and surrounding communities will fully benefit from this facility,” he emphasised.
The facility is part of the DVLA’s nationwide expansion programme, which has seen more than 20 new offices opened in the past year to reduce pressure on existing centres. It will offer services such as vehicle registration, vehicle conversion and the conversion of foreign driver’s licences.
The ultra-modern centre was developed through a public-private partnership (PPP), bringing together government and private sector resources to improve service delivery and infrastructure in the area.
