A brutal killing at a home in East Legon has ended in arrests, after a critical error by the perpetrators led detectives straight to their doorstep.
The victim, Omar Mikati, a 58-year-old Lebanese man, was discovered dead in a pool of blood in his apartment on June 20, 2025. Investigators rushed to the residence after a distress call and quickly realized they were dealing with a targeted, violent attack.
What the attackers didn’t count on was leaving behind a powerful piece of evidence—an ATM card bearing someone else’s name.
Although Mikati’s Samsung mobile phone was taken, two iPhones and a GCB ATM card labeled “Paul Twumasi Ankrah” were curiously untouched. This oversight turned out to be the turning point in cracking the case.
With this lead, police located and arrested Ankrah at a location in Samsam Medie. After interrogation, he named another man—Asiedu Henning, also called Nana Kofi Anum—as his partner in crime.
Henning didn’t remain free for long. On July 2, he was tracked down to Kutunse and taken into custody. During questioning, he revealed where a knife believed to be the murder weapon had been dumped. It was later retrieved and sent for forensic testing.
The two men were quickly brought before Adabraka District Court 1, where a judge ordered them to be remanded into custody pending further investigation. Their next court appearance is set for July 8.
The Ghana Police have confirmed that their investigation remains active and have pledged to ensure that justice is delivered for the slain foreign national.
