In an address read on his behalf, Mr Kpekpena expressed his appreciation to the ECG WinE Chapter for its outstanding work and the measurable impact it continued to make within the company and the engineering profession at large.

“As a professional chapter under Women in Engineering, (WinE Ghana) and a proud network of female engineering practitioners within the Ghana Institution of Engineers, ECG WinE has distinguished itself as a strong platform for professional excellence, mentorship and advocacy.

“Your vision to be the leading female engineering association in the power sector, promoting female excellence, and your mission to raise women of power who are versatile, courageous, and influential are evidenced in both strategy and resource,” he said.

Launch

Since its launch in September 2018, Mr Kpekpena said the ECG WinE has remained committed to promoting professional growth among female technical students, has donated sanitary pads and shoes to students and has advocated increased female participation in engineering from primary through tertiary levels.

“Your work in mentoring young girls and students, over 5,000 across the country, has helped demystify engineering and open doors for the next generation of female engineers,” he said.

Courage

The Founding President, ECG WinE and Executive Director of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, Dr Enyonam Kpekpena, said the chapter was born out of the courage to organise, mentor, advocate and create a structured platform.

She said the event was a moment of reflection for all members on how far the organisation had come, and a celebration of women who continue to break barriers in substations, control rooms, project sites, boardrooms, and field operations.

The President of ECG-WinE, Alberta Amankwaa, said the event was held to recognise and celebrate excellence by honouring outstanding women, supportive male allies and champions whose dedication, leadership and contributions continue to drive the success of ECG and strengthen the organisation’s vision.
