Renowned Ghanaian musician Denning Edem Hotor, popularly known as Edem, has shared insights into his long-standing friendship with rap icon Sarkodie.
In a recent interview with media personality on Onua FM, the VRMG record label boss reflected on their journey, from their early days in the industry to their current relationship.
Edem revealed that he first met Sarkodie in 2006 during his frequent visits to the studio of legendary music producer Hammer of The Last Two.
The connection was immediate, as both artists were signed to Hammer’s label on the same day, leading to numerous collaborations.
He noted that it was Hammer’s influence that inspired Sarkodie to name Edem’s debut album Makye, marking the beginning of their deep-rooted bond.
Despite their busy schedules and fewer interactions in recent years, Edem emphasized that the respect between them remains strong.
He highlighted their joint performances at various music festivals and the invaluable support they have shown each other throughout their careers.
One of the most memorable moments in their friendship, according to Edem, was when Sarkodie demonstrated selflessness at a crucial time.
He recalled an incident where, despite suffering from severe malaria, Sarkodie kept his promise to perform at Edem’s mother-in-law’s birthday celebration.
His manager, Angel Town, and a team brought him to the event, where he stepped out of the car, delivered an energetic performance, and immediately returned to rest.
Edem’s revelations have sparked admiration from fans, who appreciate the camaraderie between the two artists.
Their journey, shaped by mutual support and shared sacrifices, serves as a testament to their respect for each other and their enduring friendship in the ever-evolving Ghanaian music industry.
