Ghanaian musician Edem has stressed that no single artiste can be solely responsible for putting the country on the global music map.
He believes that true international recognition for Ghanaian music will only come through collective effort, where artistes support and uplift each other rather than relying on individual success.
With the fierce competition in the global music industry, Edem highlighted that unity among Ghanaian artistes is crucial for making a significant impact.
He pointed out that Nigeria’s dominance in the music scene did not come from one artiste alone but rather a combined effort from several stars who consistently pushed the country’s sound worldwide.
He explained that Ghana can achieve similar success if artistes collaborate, promote each other, and collectively work towards global recognition.
Edem also shared details about his recent trip to the United States, where he made an unexpected visit to fellow Ghanaian artiste Stonebwoy.
While in the U.S. for the Grammy weekend, Edem performed at a pre-party event alongside Gambo.
After returning to Ghana in January, he later traveled back to the U.S. in February. Upon noticing Stonebwoy’s tour schedule, he made plans to attend one of the concerts to show his support.
He recounted how he reached out to his team and arranged for a visit to Stonebwoy’s event.
The interaction between the two artistes was a pleasant one, with Stonebwoy warmly welcoming him at his hotel.
This moment, Edem believes, is an example of the kind of support artistes need to show one another if Ghanaian music is to reach greater heights internationally.
