Effiduase Traditional Area observes 40 days of Late Effiduasehene

Thousands of mourners from far and near joined the Asante Effiduase Traditional Area on Monday, February 16, at the forecourt of the Effiduase Chief’s Palace to mark the forty days’ observance of their late chief, Nana Adu Ameyaw II.

Mourners were in their black and red attire to show solidarity for the good people of Asante Effiduase as they mourn their late chief.

The forty days’ observance of the late Effiduasehene was held under the auspices of Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwedie II, who represented Asante Mamponghene, Dasebre Osei Bonsu II; Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II; and Effiduasehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom.

The ceremony was attended by politicians, celebrities, groups, clergy, business moguls, and other traditional leaders in the Asanteman Council.

Some of the prominent figures present were 2028 NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Chief of Staff Prof. Kwadwo Mpiani, Sir Sam Jonah, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene.

The death of Effiduasehene, Nana Adu Ameyaw II, was officially announced by Asante Mamponghemaa, Nana Agyakoma Difie II, on January 8, 2026.

He ruled for over three decades; from 1991- 2026.

Nana Adu Ameyaw ll died at the age of 82.

Following the announcement, the Effiduase Traditional Area Stool Elders banned all forms of noise-making pending the 40-day celebration of their chief, Nana Adu Ameyaw II.

He revealed that the banned over noise-making will be lifted on Tuesday, February 17.
