In a video circulating on social media, a group of young individuals from Ejisu can be heard singing a troubling tune: “this is our hand, if you don’t give it to us, we won’t vote,” followed by chants of “GH₵150.”
The alarming footage suggests a blatant attempt to exchange votes for cash, raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in the area.
The blatant solicitation for payment in exchange for votes underscores the prevalence of vote-buying practices, which undermine the principles of free and fair elections.
Such actions not only compromise the democratic process but also perpetuate a cycle of corruption and disenfranchisement within the community.

Maame Esi – This is what our politics have turned into. People openly demanding money to vote. If you’re a Ghanaian and see this and still support this NPP party you’re part of the problem. They haven’t only destroyed our economy and judiciary, they’ve destroyed our democracy!

Mr Nobody – This is sad to be frank with you. If young men as this start selling their vote and conscience instead of voting as result of development, then we are in a deep mess. I don’t bless them anyway
kotero – Our fathers and mothers sold their for small money that didn’t even last for 3 days. They voted unwisely and this is why we are suffering till now. We have seen sheege for a long time. Now is the time to make a change but here we are making the same mistakes to suffer even more!
Kofi Poku – This is a worrying trend. It is more likely that this trend will be repeated in the general election in December, and the highest bidder will definitely win.
David – That’s what is going to happen but mind you, 150 cedis deeer ah!
