Sixty women from Mamobi and Kasoa have graduated from a vocational skills training programme organised by Engage Now Africa, aimed at promoting self-reliance among vulnerable women.
Engage Now Africa is a non-governmental organisation whose goals include embracing new technology and digital platforms to ensure its programmes are accessible to a broader audience, while adopting a comprehensive approach to sustainable development that addresses the diverse challenges families face in their efforts to move out of poverty.
The graduation ceremony was held at the organisation’s premises in Accra to coincide with International Women’s Day. The event forms part of the organisation’s broader efforts to support vulnerable individuals and families with employable skills and free healthcare services to improve their livelihoods.
Engage Now Africa says the initiative is intended to address the growing challenge many women face in accessing practical skills needed to earn a living.
Country Director of Engage Now Africa, Cecelia Amankwah, said the organisation remains committed to empowering vulnerable women and families through sustainable programmes.
“Our mission is to lift vulnerable individuals, families and communities by providing skills and opportunities that will help them become self-reliant,” she said.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude during the graduation ceremony, noting that the training has equipped them with practical knowledge to start small businesses and support their families.
“This programme has given us skills that will help us earn a living and take care of our families,” one of the beneficiaries said.
Dignitaries at the event also encouraged the graduates to make good use of the skills they have acquired to improve their livelihoods and contribute positively to their communities.
