A Nigerian vendor has missed out on a ₦500,000 support opportunity after singer Zlatan Ibile discovered a tweet from 2020 in which she mocked him.
Zlatan, known for supporting small businesses, had announced a giveaway on his X platform to reward entrepreneurs who actively promoted their work online.
However, he mentioned that recipients’ timelines would be reviewed before selection.
The vendor initially impressed Zlatan with her consistent business promotions and was chosen as a beneficiary.
However, Zlatan found a tweet from the vendor’s past, responding to his dispute with an influencer, which read: “This one dey find who go drag am make him trend. We won’t drag you ooo, carry your noise enter Aso Rock. It’s not appreciated here.”
Zlatan later shared his findings with his followers, expressing uncertainty about awarding the ₦500k due to the resurfaced comment.
His post sparked debates online, with some users cautioning against negative online behaviour, while others felt the vendor deserved the support regardless of her previous remarks.
The singer, noted for his philanthropic acts, has yet to clarify whether he will proceed with the payment. The incident highlights how past social media activity can impact future opportunities in the digital age.
