The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has debunked claims circulating in the media suggesting that Springfield Energy CEO Kevin Okyere had been arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In a statement released on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the reports published by NorvanReports as false and misleading. The agency clarified that it is currently conducting two separate investigations involving Springfield Energy.
“EOCO has two active investigations related to Springfield Energy: one stemming from a petition against the company, and another involving a high-profile dispute with the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). Investigations precede any arrest; arrests do not occur first,” the statement read.
The office stressed that its priority is to ensure thorough investigations, particularly the case involving BOST, given its significant impact on the local economy and public finances. EOCO further expressed disappointment that NorvanReports did not seek official clarification before publishing the erroneous story.
The agency reiterated its policy of exercising caution and due process in all investigations, underscoring that no arrest has been made in either matter. EOCO emphasized its commitment to upholding legal procedures while continuing to examine both cases diligently.
