EPA to Certify and Register Environmental Practitioners

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has announced plans to certify and register environmental practitioners.

Practitioners will be certified after going through the training needed and satisfying all guidelines to merit their application and subsequent certification.

“This notice is issued to inform stakeholders in advance of the upcoming certification and registration requirements for Environmental Management Practitioners under the Act…All practitioners and stakeholders are encouraged to take note of this development and prepare accordingly.”

This, the EPA said, is a requirement under Section 31 (1) of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124).

In accordance with the Act, a register of certified Environmental Practitioners shall be published on the EPA website (www.epa.cov.gh) and in the Environmental Bulletin established under Section 167 of the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124).

Additionally, the Authority will undertake environmental monitoring to ensure that approved environmental management systems and strategies are effectively implemented by regulated entities and practitioners.

The EPA plans to communicate the date for the exercise in due course.
