Lil Win’s appreciation comes in the wake of an extraordinary gesture by the former president, who purchased 200 tickets to boost the premiere of Lil Win’s highly anticipated movie, ‘A Country Called Ghana.’
In the touching video, Lil Win recounted the unexpected phone call he received from former President Mahama in the early hours of dawn. With astonishment still evident in his voice, Lil Win shared how the former president had heard about the movie and, amidst misconceptions of its political nature, took the time to understand its true essence – a celebration of Ghanaian culture and identity.
“It was dawn at 4am and I received a call, surprise call and it was Ex-President John Dramani Mahama. I was shocked and was wondwering where I had slept that morning and he said he had heard of the movie but had the impression from people that it was a political movie and someone had explained to him and how I also explained in my interviews, he has realised it is about Ghana, then God bless me.”

Recalling the time when his school bus was in dire need of replacement, he disclosed that former President Mahama’s intervention led to the purchase of a brand new bus for his school. “I really appreciate and when I said my school bus was spoilt, he made one of his children buy me one, he told me not to tell anyone about it but when someone does something good you have to say it. It was a good bus. Something that can carry the school children, nice one.. The purchase of the bus was long time ooo, God bless him”
