Family of Five Among Six Dead in Helicopter Crash

A devastating helicopter crash in New York’s Hudson River has resulted in the deaths of six people, including a family of five tourists from Spain.

The incident occurred on Thursday, when the helicopter, carrying the family and their pilot, plunged into the river.

The victims have been identified as Agustín Escobar and his wife, Mercè Camprubí Montal, both Siemens executives, along with their three young children, aged four, five, and 11.

The sixth victim was the helicopter pilot, who was also killed in the crash.

The helicopter, operated by New York Helicopters, had taken off from Downtown Skyport in Manhattan. The crash occurred shortly after the aircraft lost control while turning near the George Washington Bridge. Eyewitnesses described seeing parts of the helicopter falling before it crashed into the river.

Rescue teams were dispatched immediately, with swimmers entering the water shortly after the call.

Despite life-saving attempts, four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at a nearby hospital.

The crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, with the Federal Aviation Administration also involved.

The tragic incident has left the Spanish community and the families of the victims in deep mourning.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his condolences, and regional leader Salvador Illa shared his sympathy with the families of the deceased.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump extended his prayers for the victims’ families.
