A peaceful parenting plan between estranged partners ended in a chilling act of violence after a woman, identified as Excel, was murdered by her former husband, Kelvin, in front of their two children in Sapele, Delta State.
Excel had previously escaped a violent and abusive marriage, choosing to protect herself and her children from further harm. After enduring repeated physical assaults, she made the decision to leave the relationship behind.
In a surprising twist, Kelvin later reached out to her, expressing a desire to maintain a friendly co-parenting arrangement for the sake of their children. He reportedly appeared remorseful and encouraged her to let go of the past, assuring her there were no hard feelings over her decision to leave.
Moved by what seemed to be a genuine willingness to cooperate, Excel agreed to allow their children to visit their father. During one such visit, she accompanied the kids, likely believing the situation had stabilized.
However, that trust ended in betrayal. While the children were present, Kelvin is said to have launched a brutal attack on Excel, using an electric cable to strangle her until she died. The children, helpless and terrified, witnessed the horrific act unfold.
